Our perfumers and customers all love it. Lavender seduces with its subtle fragrance, freshness, and strong territorial identity. An overview of a plant which perfumes men, women, and homes.

A symbol of the Mediterranean

Lavender is a true symbol of Mediterranean heritage and is unsplitable from Provence. Cultivated from 600 up to 1400 meters high on a dry and chalky soil, it takes about three years for a plant to be mature and for its flowers to be harvested.

Each summer between July and August, farmers work their land using diverse methods. The crushed green method is the most common.

Traditional methods at the service of innovation

At Argeville, we have established a partnership with a Provence producer of Rapido lavender who uses traditional methods. The cut flowers are left to dry about 48 hours before being distilled.

The pre wilting step allows us to obtain a unique extraction of the plant, as part of the water contained in the plant has evaporated. This is the most successful method to magnify olfactive qualities.

The lavender is then brought to the distillery and transformed into essential oil or extracted as concrete and then as absolute.

Used since ancient Rome, the mallow flower is appreciated for its multiple aromatic notes that perfumers use to enlight both their masculine and feminine creations.
